My work tends to focused on visual storytelling, but I’ve wanted to write since before I started shooting. It was reading Anthony Bourdain’s work that first got me interested in travelogues, and for years I would write down thoughts about my adventures. Eventually I started to actually write reported feature stories. Writing is a tremendously different medium than photography or film, with its own challenges and rewards.
Most of my published writing has been written for Serious Eats. These pieces are three of my favorites. The first two are about beer: a brewery in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, and an Anheuser-Busch hop farm in Idaho; the third is about a vegetarian market in Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Travel writing continues to be one of the genres that inspires me the most. Readers of the blog will recognize these pieces, about eating pho in Vietnam and explore Flushing’s Chinatown.
